Conversation on Social Responsibility and Collaboration in the Tea Sector
In a significant gathering, I had the privilege of joining the Governor of Nandi, HE Stephen Sang, along with county leadership, the Kenya Tea Growers Association, and key figures from the large-scale tea sector. The focus of our discussion centered on the crucial aspects of social responsibility and potential areas for collaboration.
Nandi Hills, a region renowned for hosting a majority of tea farms, has been grappling with the transformative impact of mechanization on its economy. This meeting marked the initiation of a robust and constructive dialogue aimed at exploring how Nandi Hills can harness the benefits of mechanization while mitigating its adverse effects.
Acknowledging the key role played by the county government, the lessors of all Nandi lands, was essential. Their steady support in addressing concerns raised by the people of Nandi Hills was commendable. Together, we aspire to navigate the challenges posed by mechanization and ensure that the region's tea sector thrives in a sustainable and socially responsible manner.
This collaborative effort signifies the opening of a new chapter, one where stakeholders work hand-in-hand to foster economic growth, uphold social responsibility, and pave the way for a resilient future for Nandi Hills and its thriving tea industry.
