Happy Huduma Day

10 Oct 2023

Happy Huduma Day to all our fellow Kenyans! Today, we come together to celebrate the rich tapestry of our nation, Kenya, and the values that bind us as one. It is a day that has undergone a significant transformation in its history, evolving from Moi Day to Huduma Day, representing the changing dynamics of our beloved country.

In its earlier incarnation as Moi Day, October 10th commemorated the official takeover of power by the late President Daniel arap Moi from Jomo Kenyatta. However, as our nation grew and our constitution evolved, it became clear that the day needed to take on a new meaning. The transformation from Moi Day to Huduma Day was solidified by a landmark judicial decision by Kenya's Supreme Court in 2017.

Huduma Day now stands as a symbol of our unity, diversity, and commitment to building a better Kenya. It is a day when we reflect on our journey towards social fairness, inclusivity, and long-term development in various sectors. Our differences, rather than dividing us, have become the threads that create the beautiful tapestry of our nation.

As we mark this day, let us reaffirm our dedication to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and just society for all Kenyans. Together, we can build a brighter future, realizing the dreams and aspirations of our diverse population.

Happy Huduma Day, Kenya!
