Meeting with Communications Authority Director General
During the sideline of the budget estimates, I had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Ezra Chiloba, the Director General of the Communications Authority. Our discussion centered around the network challenges faced by specific regions within the Nandi Hills Constituency.
In our meeting, I reminded Mr. Chiloba about the letters I had previously sent to his office highlighting the communication network challenges in Kapkoros, Kitechgaa, Kapsokio, Great Highlands, and Tereno. These challenges have significantly hindered the economic progress of the region, and it was crucial to find a solution to overcome them.
I was pleased to share that engineers from one of the telecommunication companies had visited the affected areas earlier, although they were unable to commit to resolving the challenges due to high operational expenses (OPEX). However, I expressed my determination to pursue alternative solutions and leverage the universal fund under the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) to address this matter.
By utilizing the universal fund, we can allocate resources specifically aimed at addressing the network challenges in the mentioned areas. This approach will help improve connectivity, enhance communication infrastructure, and ultimately promote economic growth and development in the Nandi Hills Constituency.
Our dialogue reflects the collaborative efforts between the local government and the Communications Authority to address the network challenges and bridge the digital divide in Nandi hills Constituency. Through our collective efforts, we will transform Nandihills into a thriving hub of connectivity, enabling its residents to fully participate in the digital age and unlock their potential for growth and prosperity.
