Nandi Hills Constituency Embarks on a Promising Journey to Improve Infrastructure and Water Access

17 Oct 2023

In a significant step towards the development and betterment of Nandi Hills Constituency, I held a meeting with Mr. John Muhia, CEO of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a new partnership aimed at identifying and revitalizing water pans within the region. These initiatives will enhance small-scale irrigation schemes along stable seasonal rivers, with a primary focus on the Kapchuria River. In the 1960s, this river was equipped with ram pumps that supplied water to areas like Chepkunyuk and its environs, Kaptien, Cheululu in Koilot, Sochoi, and various other communities. A fact-finding team will be dispatched to these locations within the coming month to assess their needs and potential for rejuvenation.

Tomorrow, a joint effort between the Communication Authority and Safaricom is set to take place, with the teams visiting Kapkoros, Kitechgaa, Cherobon, and Kapchanga areas. The aim is to tackle network challenges and identify the most suitable areas for installing communication boosters and improving connectivity for residents.

The residents of Nandi Hills and Lessos Town have cause for celebration as plans are underway to introduce street lighting in these areas. The recent approval for this endeavor means that the project can proceed shortly.

Several infrastructure projects are also on the way, set to connect various parts of Nandihills Constituency and make transportation more efficient. These projects include:

1. A new road that will link the market to the water supply road in Nandi Hills town.
2. Another new road from Nandi Hills market to Kisoiywo.
3. The DCC road, which will provide access from Griffin's and lead to Nandi tea through Kipriria.
4. A road connecting PAG Junction to the junction that joins the rough road to Nandi Hills town.
5. Multiple roads connecting to Ollessos Technical Training Institute, ensuring the safety of many students. These include routes from OTTI to Lessos Dispensary, OTTI to Cheptuingeny, and OTTI to Lessos Junction.

These projects are all part of a larger scheme aimed at improving infrastructure and providing better services to the residents of Nandi Hills Constituency. In due course, these areas will benefit from a new scheme for street power lighting, illuminating the lives of the people and enhancing the region's overall development.

The people of Nandi Hills Constituency are poised to enjoy improved access to water resources, enhanced communication networks, and upgraded infrastructure. These collective efforts will undoubtedly pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for this region. (Let's work together for the development of Nandi Hills!)
