St Elizabeth Chepkunyuk sec AGM/Prize giving and prayer day

09 Aug 2023

I had the distinct privilege of attending the St. Elizabeth Girls Secondary School's Annual General Meeting and Thanksgiving event, a gathering that left an indelible mark on me. The occasion was graced by the presence of esteemed individuals who share a deep commitment to education and the betterment of our community.

Among the notable guests was Milton Nzioki, the Regional Director of Education, representing the indefatigable PS of Education, Belio Kipsang. We were also honored to have Dr. John Chumo from the office of the First Lady and the school's chairperson, Leonard Mgute, in attendance. Furthermore, the DCC of Nandi Hills Sub County and John Tildai, the area MCA, were added to the distinguished guest list.

The true highlight of the day was the groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art multipurpose hall, a project sponsored by Nandihills Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to the tune of 30 million Kenyan Shillings. The Ministry of Education generously contributed 5 million, 30 computers valued at 3 million were donated, and an assortment of textbooks were added, bringing the total investment to an impressive 38 million Kenyan Shillings.

The commitment and dedication displayed at the event were nothing short of inspirational. It reminded me of the words of the great Nelson Mandela, who once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." The passion to invest in education and empower our girls and women to reach greater heights was palpable.

As the Member of Parliament representing Nandihills, I reaffirmed my commitment to transforming Chepkunyuk into a center of academic excellence, dedicated to providing top-tier education. By bringing together all stakeholders in the educational sector, we aim to restore Chepkunyuk to its former glory and ensure that it shines brightly once more.

This investment in our future is not to be taken lightly, and I urge everyone to continue supporting the education sector. Empowering our girls and women goes beyond economic gains; it is the cornerstone of a brighter future for us all. Together, we can nurture the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow, ensuring a prosperous and equitable society for generations to come.
