Visit to Keben Dam with PS for Water and Sanitation
Today, we had the privilege of hosting the esteemed PS for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Paul Rono, during his visit to Keben Dam. This visit marked an important milestone in the development of the dam, which is now on track for its upcoming launch. We are pleased to share that the initial budget for the dam, which had been reduced to 4.6 billion, has been increased to 14.7 billion.
During the visit, we also launched a borehole that will serve as a crucial water source for the tank that distributes water to approximately 1,500 households within the scheme. This partnership between the national government and the county government showcases our commitment to providing clean, piped, and affordable water to the residents of Nandi Hills Constituency.
Through our collaborative efforts, the national government will handle the drilling of the borehole, while the county government will provide the necessary piping infrastructure. This joint approach ensures efficient and effective implementation of the water distribution system, ultimately improving access to clean water for our constituents.
Access to clean and affordable water is a fundamental right that greatly contributes to the well-being and development of our communities. By prioritizing water infrastructure projects such as Keben Dam and establishing sustainable water distribution systems, we are working towards making the challenges of water scarcity and inadequate access a thing of the past in Nandi Hills Constituency.
